Welcome back TES families! We have an exciting school year ahead of us in the art studio. Our upper elementary students will be experiencing a choice-based curriculum as creativity develops differently in each person. Ideas, interests, and dreams are different for everyone. A choice-based art studio allows students to explore their unique passions while learning artistic techniques that help them express their ideas. This creates work that is personally significant and meaningful—the foundation from which all art is created.
In our choice-based art studio, we learn:
· To develop craft, techniques, and artistic processes.
· Persistence through challenges.
· To generate ideas independently.
· To search for meaning within an artwork.
· To receive and provide advice, suggestions, and
feedback.
· To take risks, and try something new.
· To appreciate artwork created by artists from different backgrounds, cultures, and communities.
Lower elementary students will continue working on foundational skills, large and fine motor skills, and following directional cues.
I'm looking forward to another fabulous school year at Tonganoxie!
